  1. Books! The best thing to do when you first get started is to read anything and everything you get get your hands on, my personal favourites to recommend to beginners are

Wicca:A guide for a solitary practitioner by Scott Cunningham – one of the most famous books and almost always recommended to beginners, this book has a more spiritual tone

To Ride A Silver Broomstick by Silver Ravenwolf – This author is a little controversial because of her less than charitable comments about Christians and her exaggeration of history however there are some very useful techniques in this series and stories to help give a new level of understanding to the content

The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft by Denise Zimmerman and Kathrine Gleason – Maybe the perfect book for beginners, there is no assumed knowledge, everything is explained in clear language though the book has been criticised for being fluffy I maintain that it is an excellent starting point, touching on many topics

The Inner Temple of Witchcraft by Christopher Penczak – this is (to grossly sum it up) basically a textbook on energy work and how it relates to spell casting, it can be dry and hard to get through but it will teach you how to make your spells work

The Craft: A Witch’s Book of Shadows by Dorothy Morrison – This book has a heavy focus on tools and will teach you the best way to make/acquire them and how to use and maintain them, she also covers a lot of information on spell work

I would recommend everything by those authors and these ones too

    Deborah Blake

    Sandra Kynes

    Ellen Dugan

    Mya Om

    D J Conway

Hope that isn’t too much to take in

  2. Tbh I’m not a huge fan of books. The very basics of how to cast a spell are readily available online. If you have a purpose and a strong intent you can cast a spell. I would recommend doing candle magick first as it’s probably the easiest spell to cast. I’ll link some videos really quick on how to do it.

  3. Are there some things you are particularly interested in exploring? That book list another user commented looks like a great starting point. r/wicca also has an excellent list of books.

  4. Look some stuff up on google and find friends who practice something. Usually at a Universalist Church, pagans have meetings and get togethers for important dates. Go chat them up and see what they think.
